"You Can't Go Back and Change the Beginning, but You Can Start Where You Are and Change the Ending." - C.S. Lewis

Welcome to Harmony Behavioral Health!

If you've landed here then you're thinking about taking the next step and starting your journey towards inner harmony. This next step might be exciting for some, a feeling of relief for others, and daunting for some people. You might be thinking what if this doesn't work, what if I don't like the therapist, this might be too painful, what if someone finds out, I should be able to handle this on my own....and the thoughts go on. The most important thing to know about therapy is that it is collaborative, you get a say in the process and provide your therapist with feedback that helps them know how to guide the sessions. "Research shows that most people who receive psychotherapy experience symptom relief and are better able to function in their lives."(1) The therapeutic alliance is one of the most important predictors of successful therapy so if you are not finding a connection or good rapport with your therapist, then find a new one! Your therapist understands how this aspect of therapy is critical. As for privacy, HIPAA laws are the same for mental health treatment as they are for medical treatments. Finally, if you think you should be able to handle this on your own, why? Working with a professional in a non-judgmental relationship can provide relief and skills that you can then use for a lifetime.
