About Nina Caricato
Nina Caricato,
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I am a committed and highly dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with excellent rapport building skills honed through experience as a therapist, teacher, and life lessons. I understand that the therapeutic relationship is extremely important to making progress with your goals.
My first job was as a middle school teacher in New York City. While teaching I learned of the multiple hurdles my students had to overcome just to make it to school and through the school day and year. I found myself prioritizing those needs as I came to understand that nothing else can happen if our minds and bodies are not experiencing an inner-harmony or peace. It was then and there that I realized what I truly wanted to do. I had my own hurdles to jump before being able to achieve my goals and these hurdles helped inform my own philosophies and approach.
I have experience working with adults, seniors, teens, and adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds. Much of my experience has been working with clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual trauma, ADHD, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, grief and loss, PTSD, and mood disorders. I have training in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I am a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP) and a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider (CTMH).
Most importantly, I believe in a person-centered, strengths-based, collaborative approach. My role is to help you gain greater insight as to what’s important to you and what you want out of life and then help you utilize your own unique set of strengths and abilities to reach these goals and overcome problems.
